Wrestling: Scholastic wrestling is the style of amateur wrestling practiced at the high school and middle (junior high) school level in the United States. The wrestling style is essentially collegiate wrestling, with some slight modifications. Scholastic wrestling is also practiced in various wrestling clubs among younger participants and is more well known in those instances by the style's other name, folkstyle wrestling.
According to an Athletics Participation Survey taken by the National Federation of State High School Associations, boys' wrestling ranked eighth in terms of the number of schools sponsoring teams, with 9,445 schools participating in the 2006-07 school year. Also, 257,246 boys participated in the sport during that school year, making scholastic wrestling the sixth most popular sport among high school boys. In addition, 5,048 girls participated in wrestling in 1,227 schools during the 2006-07 season. [1] Scholastic wrestling is currently practiced in 49 of the 50 states; only Mississippi does not officially sanction scholastic wrestling for high schools and middle schools. Arkansas, the 49th state to sanction high school wrestling, begins scholastic wrestling competition in the 2008-09 season.[2]
Greco-Roman: Greco-Roman is an international discipline and an Olympic sport. "In Greco-Roman style, it is forbidden to hold the opponent below the belt, to make trips, and to actively use the legs in the execution of any action." Recent rule changes in Greco-Roman increase opportunities for and place greater emphasis on explosive, 'high amplitude' throws. Pinning ones opponent to the mat, is one way of winning.
Free Style: Freestyle wrestling is international discipline and an Olympic sport, for both men and women. This style allows the use of the wrestler's or his opponent's legs in offense and defense. Freestyle wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling and the prime victory condition in this styles involves the wrestler winning by pinning his opponent on the mat. American high school and college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. Outside the U.S., one can find professional wrestlers who compete by the rules of freestyle wrestling.

We are the Training Center for the Central Bucks Raiders
Black/Silver Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams.
The Raiders program is an all-volunteer youth sports organization
dedicated to both the student athletes and the sport. The Board of
Directors and Coaches involved in this program give freely of
their time in an effort to help our boys reach their goals and to
enjoy themselves and the company of their teammates. We look
forward to each wrestler participating in the success of the
season. We will continue to field two East Penn Youth Wrestling
League teams (each with a full Varsity and Junior Varsity) at the
travel level again this year. We will pursue our goal of getting
all of our wrestlers more competitive matches through both our
league schedule and via non-league competition. At the novice
level, we will compete on the Exhibition level within the East
Penn League as well as with the novice programs of other local
wrestling teams (Pennridge, Council Rock, North Penn and others).
Please feel free to provide feedback and suggestions as we try to
improve these approaches.
Once again, we would like to welcome you and your son to the
Central Bucks Wrestling Federation. We are committed to both of
you and would appreciate each parent's participation and feedback.
Please feel free to speak with us directly or
email us
with your comments or suggestions. We look forward to a rewarding
